Tintagel,
Cornwall
Tintagel
is probably most famous for the romatic and mysterious ruins of
Tintagel Castle that sit high on a hill-top surrounded by crumpled
slate cliffs.
Tintagel
Castle was built around 1240 by Earl Richard of Cornwall. The castle,
and Tintagel itself, is associated with King Arthur as it is believed
that Tintagel was the birthplace of the legendary King Arthur.
In
Tintagel village itself, the 14th Century Old Post Office is a rare
example of a Cornish longhouse.
